This 1600-square-foot home near South Lake Tahoe was designed for a retired Yosemite park ranger who dreamed of building her forever home in the mountains. Working within tight budget constraints, we designed a simple but elegant mountain home. A slight rotation of the building and strategically placed windows maximize daylight and alpine views, while simultaneously providing privacy from neighbors adjacent to this quarter-acre lot. An indoor/outdoor concrete wall marks the entry and provides a visual and functional separation to the living area. The two-bedroom, two-bath home is on a single level and is ADA-accessible, ensuring the home can age with the still-very-active homeowner.
