This 1,200-square-foot guest house was built next to an existing home in Truckee's gated Martis Camp neighborhood. To take advantage of the minimal allowable building area remaining on the lot, the guesthouse cantilevers over the hillside, creating opportunity for extra living space. The foyer is at driveway level, but the terrain drops quickly, and tall windows provide the feeling of being among the treetops. Thoughtful plan layout ensures privacy from the main residence on the uphill side, while the 270-degree views and three outdoor decks provide a constant connection to the outdoors.

Upstairs is an ensuite bedroom and a cozy living/kitchen/dining room opening to a spacious deck with a built-in grill, covered and heated dining area, and sunken hot tub with views to the Sierra crest. On the lower level are a media room, full bath, and queen bunk room.
